For three weeks leading up to the LOUD Weekend finale, Bang on a Can fellows and faculty let loose throughout the galleries. Join us for these beloved gallery concerts to experience music from some of today’s most innovative minds.

Free with museum admission. Please check with the Box Office or the sign in the lobby for specific programs and locations each day.

1:30pm Gallery Concerts
July 16–30, 2026

At lunchtime, we present a handful of informal performances in the gallery spaces. Fellows can choose whichever gallery they would like to perform in and present either composed or improvised works for solo or ensemble.

4:30pm Gallery Concerts
July 17–29, 2026

In the late afternoons, we hold more structured recitals in the galleries that serve as showcases for the Bang on a Can faculty as well as occasional performance opportunities for fellows involved in projects being workshopped at the festival.

July 17: Nick Photinos and Friends

Bang on a Can cello faculty Nick Photinos presents a concert of works for solo cello, cello and electronics, and several small chamber works. Nick is joined by fellow faculty members Ken Thomson (bass clarinet) and Karl Larson (piano).

July 20: Dream Extracts

Pianist Karl Larson and percussionist Riley Palmer present the world premiere of composer Adrian Knight’s ‘Dream Extracts’ for piano and resonant percussion instruments.

July 22: Ghanaian Drumming with Nani Agbeli

Nani Agbeli and Faith Connant lead the Bang on a Can Summer Festival fellows in a performance of traditional Ghanaian music and dance in MASS MoCA’s front courtyard.

July 23: Mark Stewart

Bang on a Can faculty and local guitar hero Mark Stewart performs on an amongst the Gunnar Schonbeck instruments, an installation curated by Mark himself in 2017.

July 24: Arlen Hlusko and Ricky Moreira

Bang on a Can faculty cellist Arlen Hlusko presents an eclectic program of works for solo cello, ranging from arrangements of American folk classics to music by Bang on a Can founding composer David. Arlen is joined by Ricky Moreira, one of Bang on a Can’s 2026 summer festival pianists.
